I am asked more and more about older babies and what they should wear for a family photoshoot or an individual portrait. Especially with all these gorgeous lockdown babies booking at the moment. If you are really struggling with what to wear I have a couple of outfits for older babies, from 2-6 months. If you would like some advice on what to wear and options that I have please feel free to contact me.
I think there are a couple of rules of them that help you out when deciding what to wear.
1. Will it date?
With this in mind, I would keep away from logos etc. The distract from the baby, simple works best.
2. Keep them comfortable
I try to avoid outfits that are too fussy. Dresses tend to ride up on babies when they are being carried and even when they are lying on their own. I think shorts, leggings and rompers work really well. If there are accessories make sure they fit well.
3. Simple colours.
I love soft natural neutral colours, they suit most complexions and date really well. If you want strong colours partner them with whites or denims as they can really balance them on a baby.
4. Extras
If you have extra outfit ideas, a special blanket or toy, bring them along and I will get photos of them at the end of the session. It is nice to record those special gifts, that will age with your baby, so it is nice to capture their newness too.
I have a number of different packages to suit all budgets and I am happy to create a bespoke package for you so that you get the best value photography session at the best price for you.
